Symbolism;

Polar Bear and Tribal Woman: Unity and Protection

The polar bear, a symbol of strength, courage, and resilience in many Arctic cultures, represents the raw power of nature and its protective spirit. By hugging the tribal woman, the bear embodies a guardian role, emphasizing a sacred bond between humans and the wild. The tribal woman inspired by the Sami people of the Nordic regions, symbolizes ancestral wisdom, harmony with nature, and the enduring spirit of indigenous cultures. Together, they reflect the interconnectedness of all living beings, suggesting a balance between human existence and the natural world.

The Star-Full Night and Northern Lights: Cosmic Connection

The stars and auroras in the night sky connect the earthly scene to the heavens, hinting at a divine or cosmic energy that guides and unites all life. The green and purple lights of the aurora borealis are often seen as mystical phenomena in Nordic and Sami folklore, symbolizing the presence of spirits or the weaving of a celestial tapestry. This backdrop enriches the painting with a sense of awe and reverence for the mysteries of the universe.

Snowy Mountains and Landscape: Stability and Continuity

The snowy mountains and frozen landscape are timeless elements of the Nordic environment, representing endurance, stability, and the eternal rhythms of nature. They ground the scene, offering a stark yet beautiful contrast to the ethereal lights above, reinforcing the idea of balance between the physical and the spiritual.

The Moon and Reindeer Antlers: Cycles and Renewal

The moon, luminous and full, symbolizes cycles, intuition, and the feminine energy that governs tides and seasons. Its position above their heads signifies guidance and enlightenment, a beacon of inner and outer light. The reindeer antlers surrounding the moon add layers of symbolism, as reindeer are central to Sami culture, representing survival, adaptability, and spiritual connection. The antlers, often seen as a link to higher realms, frame the moon as a sacred portal, uniting earthly and celestial energies.

Nordic Rune

The saami tribal woman wears a traditional dress, decorated with an antler-medallion with carved Rune. The Nordic rune Laguz, associated with the letter “L,” symbolizes water, intuition, flow, and the deep unconscious.

In Norse tradition, it is linked to the element of water, which represents life, emotion, and the mysteries beneath the surface. Like the ebb and flow of tides, Laguz embodies the natural rhythms of life and encourages surrender to these cycles.

Spiritually, it signifies intuition, and the ability to navigate in life with trust and adaptability. It is often seen as a reminder to listen to one’s inner voice and embrace transformation, much like water reshapes the landscape. Laguz can also represent healing and renewal, as water is both a cleansing and life-sustaining force. In divination, it often points to a journey into the unknown, calling for faith in one’s inner compass.

One with Everything: A Spiritual Vision

The vision of oneness with nature, spirit, and the cosmos. This deeply spiritual message resonates with the Sami worldview of “siida” (community) and “Jávri” (sacred connection with all things).

In harsh environments like the arctic circle, nature rules the landscape. Long, never ending frozen nights. Here nothing is more valuable than friends&family. A tribe, a community. Together in harmony with Nature!

 Handle

The oak wood handle, wowed with the leftover drumskin, decorated with Moon moths,  is not only adds to the drum’s beauty but also ensures a comfortable and stable grip.

Frame

The birch wood frame chosen for the drum echoes its deep connection to nature, a frame for the canvas of celestial tales painted on the deer skin.

The carefully embroidered ribbon complements the drum in both color and design, a harmonious touch inspired by nature’s palette.

Assembled with love, these drums are not just instruments but vessels of nature’s beauty and symbolism.
